A Crimson Cloud for Stoke Goldington
As part of the Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative, we were delighted to offer the village of Stoke Goldington – winners of the Sword of Excellence for Best Overall entry in the Bucks Best Kept Village Competition 2022 – an extra prize in the form of a new tree.
The villagers can now enjoy the new Crimson Cloud or Crataegus Paul’s Scarlet – a type of Hawthorn chosen for its shape, size, blossom and red haws. It was planted near the picnic benches and playground to provide some summer shade and enjoy beautiful views in the other direction across the countryside.
The QGC is an initiative created to mark the Platinum Jubilee and is developing a living legacy with over a million trees planted in Her Majesty’s name across the nation during the first planting season, October 2021 to March 2022.
Bucks Best Kept Village 2022
It was a beautiful morning in the village of Stoke Goldington on Presentation Day last September to celebrate their success in winning both The Morris Cup in the Bucks Best Kept Village Competition AND the Sword of Excellence for the Best Overall entry!
Huge congratulations to everyone who played their part in making the village look so good, and for putting on a wonderful morning with coffee and cake for all!
In fact, all the winning villages and towns were out in force that day to celebrate their successes in each of the cups awarded, each based on population size. Well done to all the winners and to everyone who took part across the county.

See if you can find the tree at Stoke Goldington while the map remains live – officially until March 31st 2023. It’s not showing in quite the right place but it is at least showing in the right village!
